Choose MB M4 16. Ideal for single-repository development, dependency resolution, command-line tool testing, static analysis, and single-task Xcode builds. First check whether project caches and derived data can fit within the local SSD.
Choose MB M4 24. Ideal for running editors, compilers, test processes, and supporting services continuously, as well as interleaving multiple test tasks. More memory and SSD space reduce waiting caused by frequent cache cleanup.
Choose MB M4 Pro 64. Ideal for high-memory model validation, batch inference, multi-queue builds, and large project caches. Fix the model version, batch size, and concurrency first, then record throughput, latency, and peak memory.
If you are unsure which configuration to choose, start with a shorter term and run a complete build or inference workflow. Record task duration, peak memory, disk usage, and concurrency before choosing the next term and configuration; do not estimate resources from the project name alone.

In addition to project source code, include dependency caches, derived data, build archives, test attachments, and model files. If the workload continuously generates artifacts, keep extra capacity for cleanup and rollback.
